Youth Outreach & Engagement Officer

We have an exciting opportunity to join our charity as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s (GCC) ‘Levelling Up Together’ scheme. The role is for a Youth Outreach & Engagement Officer to design and deliver an exclusive outreach programme, specifically targeting boys and young males aged 9-21yrs, aiming to address the gender imbalance in accessing mental health support in disadvantaged wards of Gloucestershire.

With your help, we believe that if we address the barriers that boys and young males face where they live and the challenging unhelpful stereotypes that exist, we can ensure that those from disadvantaged wards have better access to support and avoid long-term issues, including self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

The primary focus will be to engage with boys and young males to encourage them to access mental health support at an early stage, in locations where they are most comfortable and likely to engage. You will drive the programme forward by developing and delivering workshops, focus groups and informal awareness raising sessions. You will build connections across multiple districts with a range of local clubs, schools, community groups and sports centres to highlight the issues surrounding mental health and identify ways to reduce the stigma around poor mental wellbeing among boys and young males.

You will be a people-person, with a strong sense of community, excellent communication skills and a passion and commitment to improving information, support and outcomes for boys and young males in Gloucestershire.

This post will require an Enhanced Adult and Child DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant.

At TIC+, we welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to having a workforce that is made up of diverse individuals, skills, experiences and abilities. Due to current under-representation in our workforce, we especially welcome applications from men, men of colour, and disabled men.
