InTER-ACT

Three, weekly, live-online sessions

Learn new ways of managing difficult thoughts and feelings and how to do more of what matters to you

Who is it for?

If you’re struggling with difficult thoughts and feelings, inTER-ACT can help you to learn new ways of managing them. InTER-ACT is for individuals aged 9-25 across Gloucestershire whether you’re having counselling or not, but we recommend giving it a go before making a request for counselling or while you’re on the waiting list.

What happens in the sessions?

Sessions are live streamed using ZOOM. TIC+ presenters use slides and videos through the sessions. You will have chance to take part in anonymous polls and quizzes and try out some useful skills and tips. Or you can just watch if you prefer!

Taking part in the sessions means you have read and agreed our Terms of Use

InTER-ACT is not a place where young people can talk with someone one-to-one about their current experiences, if this is needed, we have other services such as counselling and TIC+chat – https://www.ticplus.org.uk/

Will anyone see or hear me?

All cameras and microphones are turned off so no one will be able to see or hear you, but you will be able to see and hear the presenters. You can also private message the presenters if you have any questions, however, you won’t be able to chat privately to other young people.

PLEASE NOTE: InTER-ACT IS NOT A CRISIS SERVICE.
In an emergency, please call emergency services on 999. Further support can be found on our advice page.

InTER-ACT live online

Week 1 – ‘Thoughts Are Just Thoughts’

Have you ever wondered why your thoughts are often so negative? In this workshop we’re going to learn why our minds tend to jump to the worst-case scenario, plus how easy it is to get caught up in these unhelpful experiences. We’ll then introduce you to a technique to help you get untangled from these thoughts.

Week 2 – ‘Connecting to the Moment’

How easy do you find it to focus on what’s happening right now? Following on from our first workshop, we’re going to learn about how our minds often drift back to the past or skip forward to the future, and how this can create difficult feelings for us in the present. We’ll then talk about the benefits of connecting to the moment and techniques that can help us to do this.

Week 3 – ‘Taking Steps Towards What Matters’

In the last of our InTER-ACT workshops, we’ll discuss values – what they are, why they’re important and how to take small steps towards them. We will then bring together everything we’ve learnt to help improve your wellbeing.

Sessions are best completed in order. If you miss a session, you can book onto the next available session and then continue. They can be repeated as often as you like!
