TEAM CLARE PRESENT A CHEQUE FOR OVER £12,000

Andrew Ward and Nicola Barz recently visited local charity TIC+ to present them with a cheque for over £12,000 raised running the Cheltenham Half Marathon in September.

They ran as part of Team Clare, along with their siblings and a team of friends, in memory of their sister Clare, who sadly died earlier this year.

Andrew works as Head of Division, Marketing for St James’s Place in Cirencester, who pledged a match-fund to support Team Clare’s efforts. Caroline Mumford, Foundation Manager at St James’s Place presented TIC+ with a cheque for £5000 to support the vital work of the mental health charity.

TIC+, who are celebrating 25 years in 2019,  provide face to face, online and family counselling free of charge for those between the ages of 9-21. Their mission is to improve, preserve and promote good mental health and well-being among children, young people and families.

In the past 12 months over 1800 young people in Gloucestershire have had their lives turned around by receiving support from a qualified, experienced TIC+ counsellor.

80% reported feeling less anxious after counselling

75% felt better able to cope when things go wrong and more resilient after counselling

76% felt their problems interfered less with their learning or work after counselling

82% reported that the counselling had helped them either ‘totally’ or ‘a lot’.

Claire Power-Browne, Director of Operations at TIC+, explains how very grateful she is for the funds and the awareness Team Clare have raised.

“We so appreciate the enormous effort that went into training and running the half marathon and were so proud to be there on the day to cheer Team Clare on. The money will go towards supporting local young people going through some of the toughest times of their lives.” Claire goes on to say, “As part of our 25th year celebrations, TIC+ are putting a shout out for anyone who was an original service user or who has used the service during the 25 years. Your stories always inspire others, so please get in touch!”
